PUBLIC HEARING – NEW ZBA/PLANNING BOARD

Mayor Matthew Buckley called to order the Public Hearing at 6:11 pm on November 20, 2023, for the Village of Greenwood Lake located at 18 Church Street in Greenwood Lake, NY.
The following persons were present:
- Mayor Mathew Buckley
- Deputy Mayor Kelli Kelm (via video conference)
- Trustee Nancy Clifford
- Trustee Chad Sellier
- Attorney John Buckheit
- Trustee Thomas Howley
PRESENTATION:
Mayor Buckley opened the Public Hearing regarding combing the Village’s Planning Board and ZBA into one board. The mayor stated that this is a continuation. Attorney Buckheit stated that he has received no written comment on the matter. Attorney Buckheit also stated that attendance has been an issue for both boards and combining the boards would hopefully relieve this issue. Trustee Sellier said that even if the boards are combined, the process need to become more streamlined for applicants. All trustees were in agreement.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Ed Krull, 659 Jersey Ave. Greenwood Lake, NY agrees that combining boards would be beneficial. He also commented that many times applicants are sent to ZBA and then back to Planning Board. He recommended getting the village engineer involved in an applicant’s first meeting in order to streamline the process and reduce applicant costs. Mr. Krull would also like to see senior living arrangements integrated into the new village code.

Motioned to adjourn the Public Hearing by Trustee Kelm at 6:44 pm and seconded by Trustee Clifford. 5 Ayes- Mayor Buckley, Trustee Sellier, Trustee Clifford, Trustee Howley, and Trustee Kelm.
