Storm Disaster Relief and FEMA Information

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has declared individuals and households within Orange County available for Hurricane Disaster assistance. Please follow the steps below do apply: 1. Go to FEMA website; FEMA.gov 2. Next under the Blue Heading: “Are you a disaster survivor?"     A. Hit 3 step guide for assistance     B. Step 2 apply online or via smart phone or by calling 800-621-3362     C. Check the status of your application review questions.  3. A member of the FEMA agency will contact you via the telephone.  If you are having difficult completing you application please call FEMA at 800-621-3362.  Please advise Village Hall that you have filed a claim by calling 477-9215 or e-mail vcmgwl@yahoo.com. - • Please call Police Department at 845-477-9211 for assistance. • Make sure debris is removed from streams that run through your private properties. Anyone who gets debris from lake float up, collects it and places in or adjacent to a garbage can by the street, can let Village Hall know at 477-9215. We will send someone to pick it up. (Note: This does not mean junk from your yard or bulk items, which you can call to have picked up). •

If needed the Village garbage company is offering a discount for residents who need a dumpster at their home just call 1-866-342-5497 and mention that you are a Village of Greenwood Lake resident and they will discount your dumpster for items you need removed.

Governor Cuomo Announces Household Appliance Grant Program for Storm Recovery Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that federal disaster assistance is now available for municipalities in eight counties as a result of damages incurred by Tropical Storm Lee.

Today's additions include: Public Assistance: Chemung and Orange Counties
The Public Assistance declaration makes federal funding available to State and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Tropical Storm Lee.

Governor Cuomo Announces Household Appliance Grant Program for Storm Recovery

Albany, NY (September 14, 2011)

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today launched an $8 million appliance grant program for those who sustained property damage as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The program will help New Yorkers cover the costs of replacing vital household appliances, such as refrigerators, boilers washing machines and furnaces, damaged by the recent flooding. Grants will be a fixed amount for different appliances and could cover up to 100 percent of the costs of a purchase. If the cost of the appliance exceeds the cap, the program will pay a portion of the total costs up to the cap.
