LETTER FROM WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH REQUESTING REAPPOINTMENT AS OUR OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER.

VISITING ELECTED OFFICIALS

TOWN COUNCILMAN FLOYD DEANGELO – WE FINISHED THE SECOND ROUND OF TRAINING FOR THE FRIENDLY VISITOR PROGRAM AND THERE IS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING TRAINING PROGRAM SO IF YOUR INTERESTED AT ALL, CALL THE TOWN OF WARWICK AT 986-1124. WE ARE HAVING AN AFTERNOON MEETING ON MAY 11TH FOR THE OFFICIAL KICKOFF. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 20 SOME VOLUNTEERS THAT WENT THROUGH THE PROGRAM.

MAYOR DWYER – FOR SENIORS THAT WANT TO REGISTER, DO THEY JUST CALL THE NUMBER ON THE POSTER TO REGISTER?

FLOYD DEANGELO – YES, TOWN HALL NUMBER. IT IS IN EFFECT NOW.

MAYOR DWYER – GREAT IDEA.

MAYOR DWYER – WE RE NOT GOING TO HAVE REPORTS FROM BOARDS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS.

TRUSTEE HOLDER – I JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THE LIBRARY IS COLLECTING CAKE PANS, THAT PERHAPS YOU BOUGHT TO MAKE FOR YOUR CHILDS BIRTHDAY, SUCH AS ELMO, WHICH ARE USUALLY VERY EXPENSIVE AND WILL BE LOANING THOSE OUT TO WHOMEVER WANTS TO BORROW THEM. THEY HAVE A DANCE WORKOUT PROGRAM, A HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE CLASS, DROP THE MIKE, AND QUITE A FEW MORE PROGRAMS COMING UP. PLEASE GO TO THE PROGRAM CIRCULATION DESK TO SIGN UP FOR ANY OF THESE PROGRAMS. THEY ARE GOING TO START A PROGRAM CALLED HOOPLA THAT YOU CAN DO THROUGH YOUR LIBRARY CARD, THAT HAS MOVIES, TV, MUSIC, EBOOKS, ETC AND IT WILL BE LIMITED TO 5 DOWNLOADS PER MONTH.

THE SCHOOL BOARD IS HAVING AN EMERGENCY MEETING TONIGHT. THEY HAD A WORKSHOP MEETING THE DATE OF OUR LAST BOARD MEETING AND IT WAS APPROVED THAT THEY ARE GOING TO START A FREE PRE-K PROGRAM IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR US TO 30 STUDENTS. FIFTEEN WILL BE FOR KIDS IN NEED, AND THE OTHER FIFTEEN WILL BE THROUGH A LOTTERY SYSTEM.

DEPUTY MAYOR KELM – THE LIBRARY IS COMING TO THE SENIOR CENTER ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 12TH TO DO CRAFTS AND PAINT FLOWER BOXES. THEY HAVE BEEN COMING TO HELP THE SENIORS OUT WITH THE COMPUTERS AS WELL.   THE STREET FAIR IS JUNE 10TH AND APPLICATIONS CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM THE VILLAGE WEBSITE OF THE CHAMBER WEBSITE. YOU CAN ALSO CALL 477-2652 AND LEAVE A MESSAGE OR YOU CAN EMAIL GWLSTREETFAIR@GMAIL.COM

ATTORNEY BUCKHEIT – I DISTRIBUTED MY REPORT TO THE BOARD MEMBERS.

VILLAGE CLERK PAT OLSEN REPORT – IT IS NOW OKAY TO PUT OUT YOUR LEAVES AND BRUSH AGAIN FOR THE SEASON. IN BROWN BAGS ON MONDAY FOR THIS SIDE OF THE LAKE AND THURSDAYS FOR THE EAST SIDE OF THE LAKE. WE WILL BE FILLING IN POT HOLES IF YOU HAVE ANY, JUST GIVE US A CALL. WATER BILLS ARE OUT AND DUE BY APRIL 21ST WITHOUT PENALTY. CONGRATULATIONS TO MAYOR DWYER, TRUSTEE KELM AND TRUSTEE HOWLEY ON THEIR RE-ELECTION.

OLD BUSINESS

LEAD AND COPPER – WE HAVE SECURED OUR SODA ASH APPARATUS THAT WILL LET US INTRODUCE SODA ASH TO ADDRESS THE COPPER ISSUE. WE HAVE TO DO ANOTHER ROUND OF TESTING BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR, BUT WE DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANY MORE NOTIFICATION LETTERS ABOUT LEAD BECAUSE WE ARE NO LONGER EXCEEDING THE LEVELS. WE ARE STILL MONITORING BOTH LEAD AND COPPER.

LAKE MANAGEMENT – IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO RESIDENTS THAT LIVE ALONG THE WATER WILL BE RECEIVING ANOTHER LETTER ABOUT CHEMICALS TO BE USED IN THE LAKE. THE DEC HAS ASKED US TO USE A DIFFERENT CHEMICAL SO WE HAVE TO NOTIFY YOU OF THAT.

FIREWORKS – FIREWORKS ON THE LAKE WILL BE JULY 8TH THIS YEAR. WE ARE LOOKING AT WAYS TO ADDRESS THE TRAFFIC AND PARKING FOR THAT NIGHT. IT’S A GOOD THING THAT THE SHOW IS GROWING AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMING TO GREENWOOD LAKE BUT WITH THAT COMES SOME CHALLENGES. WE HAVE DECIDED THE CHIEF OF POLICE WILL BE DESIGNATING PARKING ON ONE SIDE OF THE STREET ONLY DURING FIREWORKS TO ALLOW FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC TO GET THROUGH. WE WILL SEND OUT A MAP OF THE WEBSITE AND ON FACEBOOK TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHICH STREETS WILL HAVE ONE SIDE PARKING ONLY THAT DAY. WE WILL MARK THE STREETS WITH NO PARKING SIGNS. THAT IS OUR PLAN FOR THIS YEAR.

NEW BUSINESS

WATER BILL ISSUES – MAYOR DWYER STATED WE HAVE REVIEWED THREE WATER BILLS THAT HAVE HAD MAJOR LEAKS. THE NEW SYSTEM ALLOWS US TO CATCH THESE LEAKS EARLIER. WE HAVE BEEN GRANTING LENIENCY IF THE HOMEOWNER FIXES THE LEAK RIGHT AWAY. THEY CAN BE QUITE BURDENSOME AND MANY OF THESE ARE BEYOND THE OWNERS CONTROL. THEY HAVE TO PROVE THAT THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED AND ADDRESSED AND RESOLVED THE LEAK AND WE WILL BE ADDRESSING THEM BY RESOLUTION.

cute-n-tiny.com purchase cialis online Sinrex has been proven to actually improve your overall health. If you are one of such people with that kind of worry, then you should be glad to viagra for women uk read this” you are not an isolated case. On the contrary, read in class, go to levitra low price seminars. It takes 2 – 3 female viagra online days for delivery to other countries in Europe. HUD APPLICATION – ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR WHERE WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY TO HUD FOR GRANTS FOR HANDICAP ASSISTANCE AND SENIORS. WE HAVE TWO APPLICATIONS WHICH WE WILL BE ADDRESSING AT THE NEXT MEETING. ONE IS FOR $125,000 FOR A FULL REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT DOOR AT THE SENIOR CENTER AND FIXES A WALL AT THE SENIOR CENTER. THE OTHER APPLICATION IS TO MAKE THE ELKS BATHROOMS FULLY HANDICAPPABLE ACCESSIBLE. THE REASON WE WOULD DO THIS IS BECAUSE WE CURRENTLY USE THE ELKS ON A REGULAR BASIS FOR TEEN CENTER. THEY SAID WE CAN BE THE SPONSORING AGENCY FOR THE ELKS, JUST LIKE THE TOWN IS FOR WINSLOW THERAPEUTIC.   THE SENIORS ALSO ATTEND LUNCHEONS THERE EVERY MONTH AND WE USE THEM AS A STORM SHELTER WHEN NECESSARY.

HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT FUNDING – IN 2013 WE WERE TASKED WITH THE CHALLENGE TO COME UP WITH HAZARD MITIGATION PLANS AND WE WANTED TO DO A LAKELANDS CULVERT PROJECT. THIS AREA IS EXTREMELY PRONE TO FLOODING AND JUST THIS LAST WEEKEND THERE WERE MANY BASEMENTS FLOODED. IN ADDITION WE APPLIED FOR AN $80,000 GRANT FOR THE ELKS TO GET A GENERATOR AS OUR STORM SHELTER. WE APPLIED FOR A $500,000 GRANT FOR THE LAKELANDS PROJECT. WE WERE TURNED DOWN BECAUSE THE FUNDING WAS NOT AVAILABLE. ABOUT A MONTH AGO THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RICH MAYFIELD CALLED US TO SAY THEY HAVE CLASSIFIED BOTH OF THOSE PROJECTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR 100% FUNDING. WHEN WEFIRST APPLIED THEY WERE MATCHING GRANTS BUT NOW THEY ARE WILLING TO FUND THEM 100%.

ORANGE COUNTY TOURISM FUNDS REQUEST – MAYOR DWYER STATED WE RECEIVED A GRANT FOR $1500 AND ALTHOUGH A NICE GESTURE, I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS ENOUGH AS WE ARE THE ENTRYWAY TO ORANGE COUNTY. I REQUESTED $25000 TO BE USED FOR CONCERT SERIES, MUSIC FESTIVAL, HOBOKEN FILM FESTIVAL, STREET FAIR, THEATRE ON THE LAKE.

SENIOR CENTER COUNTY SUPPORT – MAYOR DWYER STATED WE WILL BE GETTING A PROPOSAL FROM ORANGE COUNTY OFFICE OF THE AGING TO FUND AND PROVIDE MEALS FOR OUR SENIORS EVERY WEEK AND THEY WILL PAY OUR DIRECTOR TO COVER THE PROGRAM. THEY WILL COME IN AND PROVIDE MEALS ONCE A WEEK, ALONG WITH DIET PLANS AND NUTRITION GOALS AND THEY WILL BE PAYING FOR IT.

HOBOKEN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FILM SHOOT – THEY ARE LOOKING FOR EXTRAS FOR THIS SHOOT WHICH WILL BE DONE IN THE COURTHOUSE AND IN THE ELKS BAR. IT WILL BE THE OPENING NIGHT FILM. IF YOU ARE CHOSEN AS AN EXTRA YOU WILL GET TWO PASSES TO THE FILM FESTIVAL. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED YOU NEED TO EMAIL THE FILM FESTIVAL. THE SHOOT IS THIS SUNDAY. THE EMAIL IS KEN@JUSTICEFORALLPRODUCTIONS.COM.

BUILDING PERMIT RENEWAL – MAYOR DWYER STATED THERE IS ONE PERMIT FOR US TO REVIEW.

PRIVILIGE OF THE FLOOR.

RESIDENT ROBIN DUNLOP – ARE YOU GETTING SPONSORS TO OFFSET THE HOBOKEN FILM FESTIVAL EXPENSES?

MAYOR DWYER – I’V GOTTEN A PRETTY GOOD COMMITMENT FROM THE COUNTY THAT WE WILL BE GETTING FUNDS. THAT WILL BE ABOUT $45,000 IN SPONSORSHIPS. I HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TRYING TO OFFSET THE COSTS OF THIS THING. I KNEW IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE GOING INTO IT. IT’S STILL GROWING.

MAYOR DWYER – IF WE EXCEED OUR RATE WE WILL GET MONEY BACK.

RESIDENT CAROLE FLOOD – ARE THEY LOOKING AT THE TREES WHILE THEY ARE LOOKING AT THE SIDEWALKS BECAUSE THE ONE BY ME IS RAISING THE SIDEWALK BECAUSE OF THE ROOTS.

MAYOR DWYER – WE ARE GOING TO DO A LITTLE MORE THAN WE THOUGHT. WE ARE GOING TO GO STRAIGHT TO OAK STREET ON BOTH SIDES. WE ARE GOING TO GET RID OF THE BRICKS AND DO STAMPED PAVEMENT THERE.

RESIDENT CAROLE FLOOD – THE TREE THAT IS IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE IS ALSO LIFTING UP THE BLACKTOP ON WINDERMERE AVENUE AND THE CURB.

MAYOR DWYER – I THINK WE HAVE TO REEVALUATE ALL OF THE TREES, AND I WILL LOOK AT YOURS SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU JUST TOLD ME.
