Chapter 25, RECREATION COMMITTEE

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Greenwood Lake hereby
establishes a committee to be known as the “Greenwood Lake Recreation
Committee.”
The Recreation Committee shall have the following duties:
A. To advise and aid the Village Board of
Trustees and namely the Recreation Commissioner in the administration of all
recreation programs within the Village of Greenwood Lake.
B. To formulate and make recommendations for
maintaining the parks and recreation areas within the Greater Greenwood Lake
area.
C. To coordinate the use of all recreation
facilities, indoor and outdoor, between all organizations, the village and all
organized and unorganized teams and others who may wish to avail themselves of
said facilities.
D. To seek other recreational areas in the Towns of
Warwick, Monroe, Chester, Sterling Forest, West Milford, New Jersey and other
areas that the Recreation Committee may deem appropriate.
E. To develop and recommend long-range plans for
recreation and acquisition of lands for said purposes.
F. To be diverse and flexible in seeking
recreation for all the residents of the Greater Greenwood Lake Area.
§ 25-3. Advisory Board and Board of
Directors.
A. Advisory Board members and Directors must be
residents of the Greenwood Lake Union Free School District.
B. The Advisory Board will consist of seven
members who shall serve two-year terms with each year starting June 1 and
ending May 31.
C. The Board of Directors will consist of up to
seven members, each serving one-year terms commencing June 1 and ending May 31.
A. The Committee will appoint a Chairperson from
among the members of the Advisory Committee to serve a one-year term. Such term
shall expire at the end of the fiscal year in which he/she was elected.
B. The Chairperson will preside at all meetings
of the Advisory Committee. He/She shall be responsible for the review of all
reports and studies forthcoming from the work of the standing committees.
C. The Committee will also appoint a Vice
Chairperson from its members to a term of one year running concurrently with
the Chairperson and shall have the duty of carrying on the duties of the
Chairperson in any absence, death or resignation of the Chairperson. The Vice
Chairperson shall assume Chairship of the Committee until the Committee shall
appoint a new Chairperson, with the approval of the Village Board of Trustees.
A. Meetings of the Recreation Advisory Committee
shall be held monthly during the fiscal year, with a minimum of 10 meetings per
year. The Chairperson is empowered to call meetings as he/she deems necessary.
B. Committee members who are absent from three
consecutive meetings shall automatically forfeit their membership. Any member
who is absent from four meetings during any one-year period, except for illness
or other legitimate reason, shall forfeit his/her appointment.
The Village Board of Trustees will appoint a Recreation Commissioner who
will act as liaison to the Recreation Advisory Committee. The liaison will
report all meetings to the Village Board of Trustees at their monthly meetings.
