Dear Residents,

We completed our annual spring cleaning of the Village this past weekend. Each year, the Village Board tries to bring people together for a common goal – cleaning up the community together. We dispatched teams with gloves and bags out to critical points of the Village to work on projects, pick up litter and make our community shine. Thank you to all who participated!

The Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park concert series, scheduled to begin in late June or early July, will share this season with a number of Centennial events that promise to entertain both residents and guests with a spectacular array of live performances and family activities during the upcoming months. • Warwick Historical Society’s Annual Party in the Park in honor of Greenwood Lake’s Centennial on June 1
  • Art Show on June 2 and lecture the following week, on June 9,k on Jasper Cropsey.

  • Celebrate America Parade, Antique Car Show, and Fireworks on July 6

We are also happy to welcome back the Lakeside Farmers Market beginning on Saturday, June 8, from 9AM-1PM, at Winstanley Park on Windermere Ave. (across from Chase Bank). There are several new vendors this season including a free-range poultry and egg farmers with grass fed beef and pastured pork. We Need Volunteers

Volunteer

Our beautiful village has so many opportunities to get involved: volunteer, join a club, participate in programs, and see what’s going on in our houses of worship! Why volunteer? Why join a group? Why get involved?

Attention Residents: Keep Your Garbage Secure – Bears in the Area!

Friendly reminder: With warmer weather approaching, bears are becoming more active in our community. To keep both you and the bears safe, it’s important to properly secure your garbage.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Use bear-proof containers: If available in your area, invest in a sturdy, latching container specifically designed to keep bears out.
  • Store trash indoors until disposal day: The closer garbage gets to collection day, the less attractive it becomes to bears. Don’t put your trash out the night before pickup.
  • Double bag your garbage: This adds an extra layer of protection and makes it less appealing for bears to tear into.
  • Clean up spills and messes: Food scraps and lingering odors can attract bears. Keep your garbage cans clean and disinfect them regularly.
  • Compost food scraps: Consider composting food scraps instead of throwing them away. This reduces the amount of attractive food sources for bears.

Remember: A fed bear is a dangerous bear. By taking these simple precautions, we can help keep our community safe and discourage bears from relying on human food sources.

Thank you for your cooperation!
